The Department of African American Studies, University of California, Berkeley is an intellectual community committed to producing, refining and advancing knowledge of Black people in the United States, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe and Africa. A key component of our mission is to interrogate the meanings and dimensions of slavery and colonialism, and their continuing political, social and cultural implications.
The Department of African American Studies, University of California, Berkeley's digital collection at California Revealed consists of moving image recordings from the 1970s and 1980s. The majority of the collection consists of lectures, colloquia, and performances at the Berkeley campus and other Bay Area locations. Among the speakers featured are James Baldwin, Angela Davis, and St. Clair Drake.
