Title
Berkeley Free Speech and Apollo 8
Created Date
1968
Description
KOVR-TV news footage of the University of California, Berkeley during the Free Speech movement showing gatherings and music on campus and city parks
U.S. Senator Eugene McCarthy rally
Cesar Chavez speaking and being interview
Mayor Milton McGee speaks in front of the California State Capitol Building in Sacramento
Poet Allen Ginsberg sings the Hare Krishna and is interviewed. There are some interviews towards the end that show lab workers at Sacramento's Aerojet Labs watching the splashdown of the Apollo 8 mission, a NASA project the company worked on. The final clip seems to be of a Free Huey rally and shows Bobby Seale speaking and Kathleen Cleaver is seen standing next to him.
