Barrio Expressions was a community access television show documenting Chicanx and Latinx life in the East San Francisco Bay Area. It ran on Hayward cable television from 1976-1985. While the shows were filmed primarily in the Hayward area, they include stories from around the East Bay and San Jose. The show aired weekly, with 26 episodes per year. Segments include tape of community meeting re proposed Fuller Community Center and issues surrounding efforts to establish a Latino community center; studio guest and discussion with Bobby Castillo around gangs and youth labeling; studio guests from Dramatic Edition lowrider car club; controversy around Hayward City Councilwoman Gail Steele; tapes from San Francisco Mission District on police harassment and youth projects.
