Barrio Expressions: Anti-Graffiti Campaign '81
1981
Barrio Expressions was a community access television show documenting Chicanx and Latinx life in the East San Francisco Bay Area. It ran on Hayward cable television from 1976-1985. While the shows were filmed primarily in the Hayward area, they include stories from around the East Bay and San Jose. The show aired weekly, with 26 episodes per year. This tape consists of raw footage of Hayward youth cleaning up graffiti around the local area, including on-camera interviews around the issues of graffiti and mural defacement, and Hayward City Council's promises to fund a mural for the Latino community.
