Description
The yearbook provides a snapshot into junior college life on the California central coast in this time period. During the academic year the college offered a series of speakers called 'Hartnell Presents.' Included among this year's presenters was Dr. Henry Kissinger, professor of international politics at Harvard University who spoke on 'American Policy and Disarmament.' Another speaker was Willy Ley, described as a 'foremost authority on rockets and space travel.' His talk was titled 'The Conquest of Space.' This yearbook includes photographs of the newly completed 1.5 million dollar science building, dedicated as the T. R. Merrill Hall on Sunday, April 5, 1964 by Nobel Laureate Owen Chamberlain. It is also mentioned on p.106 that this yearbook is the '44th and final edition of the Hartnell College yearbook.'
