Description
The San Francisco Art Association was at the center of the Bay Area art world from its inception in 1871 through its dissolution in the 1960s. It founded both the first art school west of the Mississippi (now the San Francisco Art Institute), and the San Francisco Museum of Art (now SFMOMA). The San Francisco Art Association Bulletin, published between 1930 and 1955, highlighted local artists, exhibitions, and other San Francisco Art Association news and events, revealing both the inner workings of a local arts community and its relationship with the broader world. In recognition of our shared history and complementary research collections, the libraries of San Francisco Art Institute and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art collaborated to create this complete set of San Francisco Art Association periodicals.
