Robert J. Bernard Memorial Service
Memorial Service for Robert J. Bernard held at the Bridges Hall of Music at Pomona College on July 1, 1981. Mr. Bernard was one of the principal architects of the group plan at the Claremont Colleges and participated in the founding of Scripps College, Claremont Men's College (McKenna), Harvey Mudd College, and Pitzer College. He began his career in 1917 as an assistant to President James A. Blaisdell and retired as the President of the Claremont University Center in 1963. The Robert J. Bernard Biological Field Station of the Claremont Colleges is named in his honor. Speakers at the memorial service include: R. Stanton Avery, George C.S. Benson, Joseph B. Platt, and Stanley Larson.
