Description
First in series of Senate Subcommittee hearings regarding the Manpower Act of 1969 (reorganization of manpower regulation), which would essentially repeal Title 1B of the Economic Opportunity Act. This session was conducted in Los Angeles and centered around high unemployment rates in Watts. Focuses on how the Manpower Act would be instituted in Los Angeles and how it would effect the relationship between county and city government. Presided over by Senator Walter Mondale. Includes comments from Senator Alan Cranston (D-CA , Labor Committee), Ernest E. Debs (Chairman of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors), and Kenneth Hahn.
