Description
The Hildreth Rodeo was an annual event held in the early 1930's through the late 1940's. The rodeo grounds are near, what is now, Road 210 in the foothills of Madera County. The rodeo, also called the Hildreth Easter Rodeo, was attended by thousands of people who would come from all over Central California to watch the many events and enjoy the cattlemen's picnic. One of the events that was very popular was the Stage Coach Robbery and in this film, the event is recorded at the beginning, followed by various rodeo events and filming of local families and cowboys and cowgirls. Following the rodeo, filming continues with the Native Daughters of the Golden West, Madera Chapter at a local event. The Native Daughters of the Golden West is a fraternal organization that was founded in 1886 in Jackson, California. Its members are native born to California whose fraternal work focuses on projects that retain and support the heritage of California.
