Description
Early in its history, the San Bruno Police Department would occasionally hire deputy marshals to deal with the activity around Tanforan Race Track. One of these marshals was Albert D. Coturri, whose family had moved to San Bruno following the 1906 earthquake. He became a marshal in the early 1920s "and was accidentally killed while directing traffic at the Portuguese Hill intersection in South San Francisco" in 1922. His family still lives in San Bruno.
