[Side A]: (0:00- 32:33) KPFA panel of "The Left in the 80"s" lead by reporter Larry Bensky with panelists Michael Wright (teacher at California College of Arts and Crafts), Will Sullivan (editor of the Berkeley Journal of Sociology), Barbara Haber (Anit-Nuclear Weapons organizer in the Berkeley/Bay Area), and Julio Zelaya (member of the Committee of Progressive Salvadorians in San Francisco). (35:14) a report of the University of California President David Saxon giving an honorary award to the visiting Canadian ambassador. However, it was interrupted by a few members if the Revoluntionary Communist Youth Brigade who protested America's role in Iran. John Kenneth Galbraith is a speaker for Charter Day and speaks in (36:42-37:16). A report is made on the Campanile Occupation. Berkeley students barricaded themselves within the tower to protest the university for creating nuclear weapons. Short chanting lip of demonstrators around the outside of tower (38:13-38:20). Clip of demonstrators being interviewed by Don Davis (38:34-39:13). Clip giving information about the Lawrence Livermore Labratory (39:24-41:32). (41:33-1:12:28) Mendel reads his speech at Anti War Rally at UC Davis, guest speaker Terry Provance of American Friends Services Committee. The speaker is Ron Dellums. (2:45:32-2-47:52) KPFA reporter Don Davis gives another update on the Campanile Occupation situation. (2:54:30-2:56:26) Ron Dellums speaks. (2:54:19-3:15:10) the teach in returns, the speaker is identified as Michael Barrett (involved with the Local Service Union in San Jose, leader of the campaign for Democracy Now progressive labor movements in the Bay Area). (3:15:38-3:19:20) Martha Henderson (representative of American Friend Service Committee) makes an announcement about the March for Survival as well as the other speakers for the current teach-in. (55:16-56:13) Campanile Occupation update/ announcement for Florence McDonald, occupiers wanted her to be mediator between the demonstrators and police. (56:13-1:15:26) speech by chancellor of DQ Univerisity and co-founder of the American Indian Movement, Dennis Banks, speech consisted being against war, urianum mining in South Dakota and freeing political prisoners (Leonard Peltier).
