Señora Castillo (with the guitar) and Lupe Aviles (photo donor's mother and previous married name Rivera) at a church fiesta called a jamaica (Spanish word for hibiscus) that was held at the Santa Maria Center (C.Y.O. Catholic Youth Organization) in the Belvedere area of East Los Angeles. Señora Castillo was a singer and Lupe used to sing along. The picture is framed by an oval shape cut out with red and blue borders and small red flowers around it. This image was provided by Ofelia Esparza for inclusion in the Foto East LA collection. Original measurements: 4 1/2 x 6 1/2 in. black-and-white photograph.
