Water Lilies in the Lily Pond at Balboa Park. The Botanical Building is in the background. The Lily Pond (along with the Lagoon and the Botanical Building) was built for the 1915-1916 Panama-California Exposition. Along with the Lagoon and Botanical Building, the Lily Pond is one of the most photographed and iconic parts of Balboa Park. The Botanical Building is one of the largest lath structures in the world and is home to over 2,100 different plants.
