This video is important to the cultural heritage of local California history. In Marin County. The Brick Oven Bread Bakers Conference, organized by Sarah Klein (California-based Affiliate Artist in Film, New Media, and Video from 2002-2005) and Alan Scott (a noted bread-oven builder and baker from east Marin), highlights the community of Marin County by bringing together communities from Sonoma, Sausalito, and San Francisco to educationally engage the audience through the art of breaking bread. The conference attempts to expand the agenda the title suggests to include discussion of milling and even growing grains, and the all-important relationships necessary to keep a business viable, all in the context of being hands-on, small-scale, and local. Tim Dekker of Bennett Valley Bakery, winner of over 11 gold prizes at the Sonoma State Fair, talks about firing and oven efficiency, among other lessons.
