Created Date
Circa 1984
Description
John Chamberlin (photo donor's son) performing in a Teatro de los Niños anti-migra street skit production. "Migra" is Spanish slang for immigration officials. Teatro de los Niños was the first Chicano theater group in the United States with children performers. This was performed at Plaza de la Raza Cultural Center for the Arts and Education in Lincoln Park. John is wearing a red baggy clown suit and a black top hat that says "BOSS" on a strip of brown construction paper. He is holding a small red plastic baseball bat in his right hand. This image was provided by Ofelia Esparza for inclusion in the Foto East LA collection.
