Description
Nisei male, was born on January 16, 1915 in Sacramento where his parents farmed in the Fruitridge area. He left high school in his sophomore year to help support the family by making vegetable packing crates. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in July, 1941 but after December 7, 1941 his assignment shifted from guard duty on Terminal Island to Kitchen Patrol duty. His training was conducted in various areas of the U.S., and he became part of the 100th Battalion and 442nd Regimental Combat Team. He served in Europe where he earned two Purple Hearts and Cluster and a 60% disability rating. His wife and parents were interned in Amache, Colorado where he visited them after discharge from a military hospital in Denver. After returning to Sacramento he operated an auto repair business.
