A compilation of interviews, diaries, poetry, and photographs by and about 19 Big Sur women, from early pioneer days up to when the book and accompanying cassette were published in 1985. At the time of publication, Judith Goodman had lived in Big Sur for 15 years and sought out the stories of past female residents. Pat Addleman is from a pioneering Big Sur family. They founded Big Sur Press for the publication of the book and cassette. Women include Grace Boronda, Esther Ewoldsen, Julia Pfeiffer Burns, Elfrieda Swetnam Hayes, Virginia Swanson, etc.
