Original camera footage edited for broadcast for KNTV San Jose Channel 11 news. The accompanying script, read by the newscaster, provides details of the stories and completes the broadcast.
Segment 1 (silent): Views of automobiles parked in downtown San Jose city lot, sign reads "Public and County Employee Parking," Volkswagen Bug drives away from camera. From broadcast script, "The main question regarding Governor Brown's proposed state office building is where will it finally be located. The master plan of the County Administrative Center calls for the state building to be constructed adjacent to the National Guard Armory on Hedding Street. The site is currently a county parking lot. City Manager A. P. Hamann this morning said there is a possibility the center might be located in the urban redevelopment land in downtown San Jose. The City manager had these comments..."
Segment 2 (silent): Night scenes of man and woman with automobile, sheepdog is inside vehicle, veterinarian gives dog a shot. From broadcast script, "Firemen are often called upon to solve problems other than merely fighting fires. The men of the Carmel Fire Department gave ample proof of that last night when a sheepdog somehow got his leg trapped inside a station wagon. William Griffith and his daughter, Lynn, were driving with their two sheepdogs...Lassie and Sam...when somehow Sam got his leg trapped in the rear decking. It was the Carmel Fire Department which was called upon for a Good Samaritan act. The local vet was called in to give Sam a tranquilizing shot to soothe his shattered nerves. Then the firemen began work. Lassie sat in the front seat, overseeing operations, as firemen with crowbars, drills and power saws worked to free Sam. The rescue operation lasted for 45 minutes and resulted in a sadder but wiser Sam...and a very happy little girl."
