Description
Colorized photograph on a small glass panel depicting a garden with a trellis with flowers on the top of it. Underneath the trellis is a brick path surrounded by a rose bush in the foreground. On the right of the panel is a small circle of water with possibly a fountain in the middle. A terracotta vase and other flowers are on the left of the image. In the background behind the trellis is an open area of grass with a tree. This slide is assumed to be an original lantern slide autochrome created by Harold A. Taylor, a California photographer and longtime resident of Coronado. Harold A. Taylor was born in the United Kingdom in 1878. In 1896, he immigrated to California, where he photographed Yosemite and other natural scenes in the state. He is credited with developing an early method of colorizing photographs at a time when color photography was just beginning to emerge. In 1912, Taylor moved to Coronado, CA where he established the Coronado Floral Association and continued his photography business. He died in 1960 in El Cajon, CA.
