Title
Library Expansion Groundbreaking Ceremony
Created Date
March 10th, 1992
Description
The iconic Huntington Beach Central Library, designed by Richard Neutra and his son Dion, opened in 1975. Besides being an architectural jewel, it became a vital resource for patrons throughout the Southland. By the early 90s, an expansion was sorely needed. By the end of 1994, an additional 43,000 square feet provided room for one of the largest children's libraries in the west, including its own story-time theatre, seven additional meeting rooms and an additional 320 seat theatre. This film documents the ground breaking ceremony for the new expansion including public celebrants and dignitaries.
