Early La Cañada, Cityhood, and the La Cañada Historical Society are recalled by long time resident Joy Wilson, interviewed by former Lanterman Archivist Tim Gregory. Joy Wilson was one of the founders of La Cañada Flintridge Historical Society.
The Lanterman Oral History Collection consists of conversations with residents of La Cañada Flintridge who recount the history of the city, its community, and its institutions in the context of local history and on California history at large. The history and development of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory is recalled by two prominent scientists, Peter Breckheimer and Bob Covey. The legacy of notable local statesman Frank Lanterman is recalled by several interviewees, particularly with regards to local and California State water rights. Conversations discussing La Cañada's early history, cityhood, and the establishment of its school district are also strongly represented in the collection.
