Leonidas Kyriakopoulos was born in 1948 in Hora, Trifilias in Greece. After a boat ride from Greece to New York his family settled in Shelby, Montana in 1951. Even in the United States his mother stressed the importance of church life by enrolling him as an altar boy. He attended school at Montana State University at the art school. Later he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and worked with his brother as a general contractor, though his dream was to be an artist. He got married in his fifties.
