Interview with Alex Cohen in which he talks about his parents, Nathan and Mary Cohen, and their life and involvement with the Communist Party, including Nathan's expulsion from the Party, circa 1949-1950. Cohen reflects on his life and relationship with his parents while living in Brooklyn, Toronto, Queens, and Los Angeles, and on his own political path in relation to his parents influence. Cohen talks about his participation in the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) in the 1950s and the waning of his political activity after his taking part in a hostile demonstration on Wall Street in the 1970s, which led him to re-examine his feelings about political activity and how he might carry on the value of social justice.
