Description
Samuel A. Barrett's personal films of the Golden Gate International Exposition (GGIE) was held on Treasure Island, San Francisco Bay in 1939. Barrett was the first person to earn a PhD in Anthropology at the University of California, Berkeley. In 1939 - 40, Barrett curated an exhibit about American Indian art at the GGIE. In 1960 Barrett, funded by the National Science Foundation directed a comprehensive documentation project: the American Indian Film Project.
