Topic: Women, Work, and Poverty: the hidden face of the economy. Speakers include Nancy Page Fernandez, Karen Langlois on resources at the Huntington, moderator Margaret Prescod, Maria Gutierrez de Soldatenko on "Latinas Garment Workers: Gender, Race, Class and Immigration in the Workplace", and writer/journalist Julianne Malveaux. Speakers presentations are followed by group discussion. These tapes document a series of seminars held between 1984-1998 at The Huntington Library to examine the state of the art of women's studies. Specialists from many different disciplines delve into topics related to women's studies. The seminars were open to the public and attracted between 75 to 149 people.
