Description
Crocker partnered with Leland Stanford, Collis Potter Huntington and Mark Hopkins to form the Central Pacific Railroad Company on June 27, 1861. The "Big Four" made the dream of a trans-Sierra Nevada railroad a reality with the joining of the Central Pacific and Union Pacific rails at Promontory Point, Utah, on May 10, 1869.
