Description
Susie del Valle sings "Quiciera Verte un Dia" and Nena del Valle Cram sings "Angel de Amor," recorded by Charles Lummis at Rancho Camulos, California, 1904.
In early 1904, Charles Fletcher Lummis recorded approximately 500 Spanish language Californio folksongs. These recordings shed light on California's diverse - and often unknown - residents captured in these recordings. Some of these musicians imbue the California romantic past such as the Del Valle Family, sisters Rosa and Luisa Villa, and troubadour Francisco Amate. Others are tied to the earliest years of Mexican immigration to California, such as Rosendo Uruchurtu and sisters Manuela and Mercedes Garcia.
