Reel 1:
Segment 1 (silent): San Jose City Council meeting, likely regarding family life education proposal for schools. Speakers at podium include a priest. Shots of audience.
Segment 2 (silent): Unknown council or committee meeting or hearing, with multiple speakers at the microphone.
Segment 3 (color, silent): The Concours d'Elegance classic car event at Del Monte Lodge at Pebble Beach on July 23rd. Classic sports cars on the lawn, with people milling around them. Close-ups include a Rolls Royce, 1911 Renault Model AX Roadster, and a 1899 Osen Cal Plate 3242.
Reel 2:
Segment 1 (silent + sound): Silent shots of a committee meeting inside a small conference room, with California Assemblyman George Milias in attendance, as well as Mr. Earle Crandall. Close-up of a reel-to-reel tape recorder. Followed by sound interview of Milias outside. "Well, I can't predict what decision the group will make, because much of this testimony will be taken under advisement, but I think we'll speak very strongly about the filling of San Francisco Bay, perhaps we'll make some proposals for the preservation of our redwood stands, we will probably speak as to the preservation of Lake Tahoe, and speak to some of the other important conservation issues facing California today." Reporter: "The pollution of Lake Tahoe is getting to be a problem. Do you plan to make any recommendations to solve this problem?" "Well, of course I can't say definitely, but I feel confident that this group will perhaps in its final decision-making stages come up with a policy that will point towards a complete elimination of all pollution of Lake Tahoe."
Segment 2 (silent): Older man placing a top hat on a large stuffed bear on his lawn. Sign nearby reads, "THINK." A smaller bear hangs from a tree over a sign reading, "One tree will make a 'million' matches! But 'one' match can destroy a million 'trees'!" Another sign reads, "Consider D Loss B 4 U Make D Toss" with several cigarettes attached to the sign.
Segment 3 (sound): Street interviews with San Jose shoppers downtown near Blum's and the Bank of America at the corner of First Street and Santa Clara, on whether they think the California legislature should relax abortion restrictions, and if so, do they think the legislature ever will? All four interviewed (two men, including a San Jose policeman, and two women, one of whom is African American) say they feel the current laws are too restrictive, but that it will take many years before the legislature changes the law. The policeman does not feel it's the place of the legislature to regulate abortion and feels it should be up to medical professionals.
