Title
Jerry Voorhis Tools of the People in Building a Free World
Created Date
March 8th, 1950
Description
Jerry Voorhis discusses mutual aid and cooperatives. He believes men must cooperate and help one another now more than ever while under nuclear threat. Nuclear weapons exist because dictators and monopolies exist, and Voorhis calls upon the strength of the people to cooperate and restore democracy, as cooperatives create a healthy economy, especially in rural areas. He continues to praise the economic benefits of cooperatives, but warns against the unseen but detrimental actions of large corporations. Some have called federal measures to assist small farming coops as socialist, but those who say so are often big corporations themselves, such as private power companies who resist providing electricity to rural areas. Voorhis reaffirms the ability of cooperatives to aid the small farmer or businessman and strengthen the economy and the country. Audio Notes: Part 1 static beginning 0:11
