Description
The Asian & Pacific Islander Student Union (APSU) was a statewide network of student organizations formed in the 1970s in response to the Regents of the University of California vs. Bakke decision that weakened affirmative action programs in the United States and ultimately paved the way for California to ban such programs altogether in 1996. APSU became heavily involved in political activism, particularly around social justice and civil rights issues, and accordingly, many of their events included marches, rallies, and protests.
