Description
Glydus Gregory came to work for the California Division of Highways as a radio communications specialist on November 25, 1946 and served the Department in that capacity until his retirement in 1974. The year before he retired, he recorded reminiscences of his career in radio communications and the problems encountered in the 1940s. This is his personal recollection of his experiences working in radio communications, from when he worked at Mather Field in Sacramento before joining the Department. He spent most of his career out in the field, so some of descriptions are of mid twentieth century travel in the snow. There are descriptions of (then current, radio communications equipment) and how it was used. And some more personal reflections on what he did on the day he learned that President John F. Kennedy had been killed.
