Original camera footage edited for broadcast for KNTV San Jose Channel 11 news on September 25, 1966. The accompanying script, read by the newscaster, provides details of the stories and completes the broadcast.
Segment 1 (silent): Crowd on beach building sand castles for the annual Great Sand Castle Contest in Carmel. Script reads, "Sponsored by the local chapter of the American Institute of Architects the contest yearly draws large numbers of small fry, teenagers, and adults, all medieval planners at heart, who create madly throughout the day. But not all the construction is limited to sand castles. One enthusiast literally was sculpting a land-locked mermaid out of the sand...One man was obviously misplaced in his geographical location for he had constructed an Eskimo igloo complete with Canadian flag aloft. Another enthusiast was so engrossed in his work that the presence of bikini clad young ladies failed to detract him from the project at hand..."
Segment 2 (silent): Aftermath of residential fire at the home of James Leiter on Capitola Way in Brunswick, East San Jose. Firemen on hand include Ramos and T. Gray.
