Jane Hollister Wheelwright and Walker Tompkins, with Edwin Gledhill, discuss the content of Tompkins's unpublished manuscript on Col. W. W. Hollister tentatively titled, "Hollister of California," or "King of the Sheep Barons." Jane Hollister Wheelwright challenges Walker Tompkins about his sources throughout the recording. Wheelwright hired Tompkins and makes a case for the inclusion of end notes in the manuscript to "dignify" the content. Tompkins continually resists the inclusion of end notes and instead says his sources will be covered in the foreword and appendix. Jane Hollister Wheelwright and Walker Tompkins each state at the head of the recording that any playback of this recording cannot be done without their permission.
