Stuart Wheeler was a civic leader from the 1930s to the 1950s, serving on the Claremont City Council for many years, as well as serving as Claremont Mayor from 1946 to 1954. Additionally, Mr. Wheeler owned a 65-acre citrus grove in Claremont and worked in oil distribution for some time. Stuart Wheeler is the son of Frank Wheeler, an important early Pomona Valley and Claremont pioneer who is credited with paving the first city sidewalks and bringing the Pacific Electric Railway through Claremont.
