One of the primary objectives of the Historical Resource Center at California State University, Bakersfield is to document and preserve the history of the Southern San Joaquin Valley, especially as it relates to architecture, agriculture, the oil industry, migration, indigenous cultures, and music.
The California State University, Bakersfield’s digital collection consists of moving images and audio recordings from the 1930s to the 1970s. The majority of the collection are home movies and oral histories concerning topics such as Kern County, Yosemite, war relief efforts, and more.
